Pinball Wizard

With an influential pinball loving critic reviewing their rock opera prior to opening, The Who created the song to ensure a good public review. The main character Tommy played pinball by feeling the vibrations of the machine, which writer Pete Townshend likened to listeners picking up the vibrations of the music. Our image is a satire, featuring a classic depiction of a wizard standing atop and commanding a pinball machine.
